If you have ever seen your capsules come out like the illustration below you usually have a pressure problem!
|
And your customer (a consumer or perhaps the pharmacist) wonders what went wrong in your
shop. When you see this type of capsule defect you can almost bet on one of two things that has
happened: you tried to put too much powder in the capsule (and) or you used too much pressure
to close the capsule.
And what should you do about the situation? First determine that your fill weight is correct. If in
fact you are trying to place too much powder in the capsule, you have no true solution and your
only option is to back off the pressure pins and hope that you can still close the capsule.
If your fill is satisfactory then you likely have too much pressure applied on the pins that are
closing your capsule. Or the pins are worn and uneven. Or the pins are bent. Either way you need
to check your settings and reset your closing station to eliminate this defect.
Good luck!
