Be Careful! Sometimes Tablet Can Explode!
In the coating operation always remember that the warm up
Period can hurt you. Recently there was an issue where a batch of tablets was placed
into an Accela Cota 48” and prepared for coating. While the pan was warming up, no
one jogged the pan. (Jogging the pan both heats the bed more evenly and also speeds
up the time needed to reach the desired outlet air temperature!).
As a result, the tablets on the surface of the bed “exploded” sending flying saucers off
of the bed once the pan and coating started.
Looked like capping but our investigation proved that the tablets on the surface
exploded like popcorn.
So be careful and jog your pan before you coat!
